Jim O’Neil hired by Niners to be team’s defensive coordinator
San Francisco, CA, United States (NewsBahn) – Jim O’Neil has been hired by the San Francisco 49ers to be the team’s defensive coordinator, a source confirmed to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
He served in the same post for the Cleveland Browns the last two seasons.
O’Neil takes over for Eric Mangini, fired along with Jim Tomsuia after the Niners struggled in their first season after the Jim Harbaugh era.
